At Earcare North Yorkshire, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality earcare services with over 40 years of experience. Unaddressed hearing loss can affect our mental health and can cause isolation and cognitive decline. One in five people are living with blocked ears without realising it. We believe regular ear health checks are as important as dental and eye checks and we aim to make this accessible to everyone. Our qualified healthcare professionals are dedicated to helping you hear better and improve your quality of life. We have clinics in Market Weighton and Thixendale and we can also offer our services in the comfort of your own home or care home.
Otoscopy
To start with we will have a look at your ears using an otoscope. The digital otoscope examination helps assess the condition of the auditory canal and the tympanic membrane (ear drum) and any build up of ear wax that may need removing.
It is normal and healthy to have some earwax and we can show you using our screen whether you have wax needing removal. This initial examination is free of charge.
Earwax removal
If we see there is wax needing removal we will discuss this with you and decide on a plan of action. Sometimes if the wax is hard we will give you some olive oil drops to take home and administer for a few days to soften it and then you can return to have the wax removed.
We use the gold standard micro suctioning method; a safe and effective earwax removal technique for improved hearing health. This takes 20-30 minutes at a charge of £55 which includes videos or photos of before and after wax removal and a hearing test to finish.
Hearing test
We will perform a hearing test as part of the earwax removal package. This can also be carried out as a stand alone test without wax removal at a charge of £20 and takes about 5 minutes.
